Fall Skills & Thrills
November 12, 2017
51 swimmers participated in the Fall Skills and Thrills meet at the University of Guelph pool, which took place on November 12. This meet gave our Age Group 1, Advanced, and Novice program swimmers a chance to show off their skills in the first swim meet of the season! For many swimmers this was also the very first meet of their swimming careers.
36 CW swimmers brought home ribbons, which is a huge accomplishment! All swimmers did a fantastic job, and many personal bests were set.
The coaches did a fantastic job preparing our swimmers, and many parents learned the importance of coming to the meets early in order to find good seats! Veteran parents were easily spotted wearing temperature-appropriate clothing and relaxing in comfy seats.
All joking aside, it is important to show up to meets early, as parking can be a challenge, and sometimes even finding the change rooms can be a challenge. The meets are long and draining so remember to send plenty of water and healthy snacks with your little swimmers. Foods that keep energy up include protein rich foods such as yogurts, cheese, as well as veggies and dip, and pieces of fruit.
At the Annual General Meeting the importance of scratching swimmers was reiterated. If your child cannot attend a swim meet for any reason you must send a “scratch my swimmer” email to the coach before the deadline -- use firstname.lastname@example.org. This will also save you money, as not showing up for a meet will still incur meet fees.
It's very exciting that we will be hosting our very first swim meet at the PAC pool on December 3! Our Age Group 1 and Novice program swimmers will be competing in this meet. Best of luck to all!
