Swim Ontario - Canada Games Highlights
DAY 1: Tori Meklensek and her Ontario teammates came out flying on the first day of swimming competition. Tori swam in the 4x200m Freestyle Relay event Monday afternoon and it was a nail-biter to the finish between Ontario and BC. Less than 3 tenths of a second separated the two teams at the wall with Team Ontario capturing silver and BC, gold. What an awesome start for Tori and Team Ontario!
DAY 2: Tori finished 11th overall in the prelims of the 100m Free and was one of 4 Team Ontario girls who finished in the top 16. However, she did not swim in the finals as only 2 swimmers per province/territory can advance to the A/B finals.
DAY 3: Tori started Day 3 with a commanding first-place finish in the prelims of the 400m Freestyle. She clocked in at 4:27.95 for a new CW club record. In the finals, Tori knocked another couple of seconds off her time and earned a silver for Team Ontario. The CW club record for the 400m Free for 15-17-year-old girls and the open category now stands at 4:25.63. Way to go, Tori!
DAY 4: Tori advanced to the 200m Freestyle finals after a 3rd-place finish in the prelims. The finals proved to be an exciting one. Tori was neck-and-neck with Ontario teammate, Hannah Henderson, as they approached the wall. Hannah touched first followed by Tori only 2 tenths of a second later. Tori's time of 2:04.71 set a new CW club record and added a 3rd silver to her medal haul.
DAY 5: In the 50m Freestyle, Tori placed 9th overall in the final standings. She won the B finals with a time of 27.14, a personal best and new CW club record.
Congratulations, Tori! You've made Club Warriors proud.
